Today, as I sit here reflecting on Veteran’s Day, I thought it was only appropriate to write about an amazing experience that I just recently had the opportunity to be a part of. On October 30th my good friend Kerry participated in the 2016 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C..
Kerry had been sick for two weeks leading up to the Marathon but she pushed through to honor her family and friends who serve this great country.
“Team Lyons” flew down with her for the weekend to show our support and we made sure to be at multiple mile markers throughout the finish! I teared up a number of times throughout the day not only because I was proud of my girl Kerry but seeing men and women run in honor of those who have served our country was truly overwhelming.
Throughout the day we saw runners pushing wheelchairs, guiding blind runners, and overall supporting perfect strangers all in honor of our Marines. It was truly an amazing experience and I am so happy that I was able to be a part of it.
Congratulations to all of the finishers. That hill at the end was INSANE!
Thank you to Kerry for including me in this amazing event (even if it was just screaming my head off all day long) and a HUGE and heartfelt THANK YOU to the men and women who serve our country day in and day out!
