As a NH Maternity Photographer, I rejoice in the celebrations with my clients as well as the heartache. When Kayla let me know that she had lost a pregnancy early on in 2020, I was heartbroken for her! I knew how bad she wanted a sibling for Ember and I after documenting Ember’s arrival, I could not wait for baby number 2.
2020 seemed to take so much from so many people and this was one of those calls I HATED getting. A miracle was brewing though and in the fall, I got the call that I had been waiting for!!!! A RAINBOW BABY was on the way!!!
Kayla’s at home maternity session did not disappoint and I am SOOO in love with these photos. The last photos with your “baby” before the new baby arrives are full of precious moments. We snuggled, Ember showed me her “baby belly” and we had a blast jumping on the bed. At home sessions are so organic and no two are the same. Big sister was all about soaking up snuggles with mom and dad. When she was “all done” with the camera, Kayla and I had some fun of our own.
Kayla put so much trust in me and we JUMPED out of the box and did some fun empowering shots of her alone on the bed. These maternity boudoir shots are some of my absolute favorite and I squealed when I saw the back of the camera. I get it, as a mom of 3, I hated all the extra weight I gained during pregnancy but I still think pregnant mamas are the most beautiful! Thank you to Kayla for trusting me and getting some seriously sexy shots of her bump. THOSE EYES…damn girl!

One year ago today this family of 3 was excitedly packing for the hospital in anticipation of meeting baby Owen in the morning. Big Brother James (who’s birth was my very first Birth to photograph) would have one more night with mommy and daddy all to himself. He was full of excitement to meet his baby brother. Just a few weeks prior, on a mild January day, we met at Kingston State Park for a winter maternity photography session to document this family of 3 just one more time before becoming a family of 4. James was so giddy to share his favorite stuffed animal with me and tell me all about this little brother in mommy’s belly. To this day, James is still my most photographed little client and I was so excited to watch him become a big brother.
Stay tuned tomorrow for part 2 of Owen’s Birth Story…but until then let’s check out a flashback to theBirth Story of James
Baby Andrew was one of my very first “Simply Baby” Sessions and he was such a joy to photograph. Andrew’s mama and I went to college together and I it has been so much fun watching her become a mama and to photographer her two little men. This little dude just turned ONE and although I would love to be photographing his one year session, it is safer during #socialdistancing for me share some of his simple studio newborn photography session from last year. Andrew started his session WIDE awake (just as most newborns do) and we captured some super cute expressions and even gave me a few grins. Once he was wrapped up, he passed right out and was a dream to work with.
There is just something about the simplicity of a plain white onesie and a simple white background that I just love. Baby details stand out and you really get to see their features up close and personal. If you have been following me for a while, you know I LOVE baby toes…like near obsession. These simple sessions are a great way to capture the tiniest of feature like toes, finders, lips, hair and eyes. These natural baby-led sessions are some of my favorites and I can’t wait to do more when we are allowed back in the studio.
Let’s be real – the last few weeks of isolation have been rough on everyone. As a birth and newborn photographer, I have struggled not being able to support mamas and photograph these tiny little humans, so I will be sharing some of my favorite sessions over the next few weeks. My heart goes out to all of the new mamas giving birth during this time. I look forward to being back in the studio soon but for now, I wanted to share a few ways that I can help you during this time.

Running out of ideas to keep them busy? I have got you covered. Check out this blog post that I did last week: Kids Activities to Do at Home Now, let me be real – I am NOT a Pinterest Mom and I SUCK at baking but we are all doing things these days that we may not normally do. Give yourself grace, enjoy as much as you can and just love on those babies!!!
Phone Consultations & Advice for Photographing your Newborn: I am still doing phone consultations for spring & summer babies, but what if I JUST had a baby and want to get some photos. Well, we can do a virtual session. What I mean by that is that I will get on a call with you and give you tips and tricks to photograph your baby yourself (even if just with your phone). I know it doesn’t replace a professional newborn session but at least your baby’s first few weeks will be documented. If you are interested in learning more about these “virtual newborn sessions” contact me today.
Stay safe, keep smiling and I hope that some of these things help get you through these uncertain times and know that I am thinking of you all and sending virtual hugs. (Seriously though – I cannot wait to HUG EVERYONE again!)
I first met Ashley and Matt in the beginning of their third trimester and we hit is off right away. Their sense of humor and our personalities clicked right away. Birth Photography at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is on the rise and I was so happy when they chose me to document the birth of their first child. I knew that it was going to be a great experience and the nurses, midwives and hospital staff were amazing to work with and were SO amazing in helping Ashley have the natural birth that she wanted.
After 5 years of infertility struggles, Ashley and Matt were over the moon to be expecting their first son on Thanksgiving Day. During their maternity photo session there was lots of joking and laugher about what it would be like in the delivery room and I knew that Matt was going to make this birth HYSTERICAL! I wasn’t wrong.
Thanksgiving came and went and no baby. After a few false alarms, I finally got the call from daddy to be, Matt at 4:45am on December 3rd saying they were headed to the hospital. He was the best at keeping me posted as her labor progressed and around 9am I jumped in the car and headed to Dover.
When I arrived, it was quiet and dark and Ashley was breathing quietly through her contractions while her midwife and Matt were reassuring her that she could do it through every contraction. “You got this babe” was whispered through each contraction followed by a funny remark once they had subsided. Matt was one of those dads who was fully involved and knew EXACTLY how to help his wife get through to meeting their son. Humor was very much a part of their birth plan :).
Over the next hour or so we all held space while Ashley moved from the bed, to the birthing ball and back again. I was in awe of her as she labored quietly with so much strength. She whispered to her nurse “I don’t think I can do this anymore” and just then we heard a pop (yes a pop) and her water broke. Her body knew just what to do and she instinctively started pushing.
With just a few quick pushes, Baby Samuel entered the world just in time for us all to watch the Patriots Game (mom is a big fan).
This beautiful morning birth was one of my favorites because I got to capture the emotion of other family members meeting Baby Samuel for the first time. Birth is emotional for all of those involved and I can’t lie…I shed a tear every now and then. Birth is Beatuiful!
One of my favorite parts of birth photography is capturing all of those little details during a baby’s first exam. The weight, the length, those little features…all the details for mom to cherish forever.
And then there were 3!
Thank you to Ashely and Matt for allowing me to capture their beautiful birth story! I am already looking forward to the next one:).
These long winter months here in New Hampshire have given me the time to really explore what I want my customers to experience when they have a photography session with me. As a White Wave Photography client, I want to give you a full service custom experience with not only great photos but high quality heirloom products to display on your walls. One of my favorite ways to display your images is through a Framed Print to hang on your wall.
Give your images the presentation they deserve with our remarkably handcrafted frames. I’ve selected the very best high quality frames. Your images are skillfully framed to preserve them for years to come. At your Reveal Night I will help you to choose a frame that works well with the portraits that you have selected. Pair warm, low contrast prints with Toffee Crunch or Rum Raisin (pictured here) for a popular vintage look. Go modern with a Slim White or Onyx frame. Any of these options combined with superior printing and expert framing means your favorite images will continue looking beautiful for generations.
All Framed Prints arrive ready to display with finished backing and hanging hardware and are mounted to foamboard to perfectly fit the frame. Double White Matting is available in a variety of multi-opening configurations, depending on the size of your frame. I just love this option and so do my past clients! I can never decide on less than 4 images when it comes to my own kids so this collage works perfect for their photos this past fall here at our Newfields home.
“As a busy mom I want gorgeous photos of my kids, but I also don’t want to stress about the process. Jennie managed to make the whole process from start to finish feel so easy and fun. She was awesome with my kids and took photos that truly captured each of their personalities. I love being able to see the gorgeous images she captured on my walls each day. ”
