I met Nate & Sarah in February last year when they were looking for a photographer for their upcoming intimate summer wedding at Caswell Farm in Gray Maine. As soon as I met them I was in LOVE! They were adorable together…and I had to say yes! Sarah is from NH and Nate is from Maine which is the same as my husband and I. I knew Sarah’s family and knew that this wedding would be FULL of great moment to capture and such loving memories.
As a wedding photographer in Southern Maine and NH, I knew to plan ahead when shooting this 4th of July weekend wedding…and boy am I glad I did. Traffic was a nightmare and they were calling for major thunderstorms. But, when I arrived, Sarah was cool and calm just excited to marry her best friend. She wasn’t phased in the least by the forecast! It started pouring buckets while she was getting ready and she just said “it is what it is”!
Sarah got ready with her two sisters, her mom and all of her bridesmaids in the main farm house which made the perfect backdrop for her classic wedding dress. But, the most memorable moment was when dad saw her for the first time…his reaction was priceless!
It was Sarah’s dream for Nate to see her for the first time walking down the isle and I couldn’t agree with her more. It is a one in a lifetime moment that is truly special. The weather God’s were with this couple on their special day and the clouds parted and the sun came out about 30 minutes before she walked down the isle.
With her brother singing and her dad by her side, she got the moment that she dreamt of and it was truly a beautiful and memorable walk down the isle!
It is hard enough to “give away” your daughter but then to perform the ceremony (without balling) is another story. Dad held it together and ROCKED their ceremony. It was the most personal and heartfelt ceremonies that I have ever been a part of.
My absolute favorite thing to capture as a wedding photographer is the couple’s first moment “alone” when they realize they did it and are now HUSBAND AND WIFE! This couple was no different and they were GIDDY!
This wedding party was not only the BIGGEST that I had ever photographed but they were also the easiest to photograph (could be because her sister in law is a photographer so they are well trained…LOL). The kids were so well behaved and hammed it up for the camera!
The reception which was held in a beautiful barn on the property was also full of emotions. From the first dance, to the amazing toasts, and finally the song that her brother Chris had written for the happy couple…I had a hard time keeping my camera steady through the tears. Simply AMAZING!
Sarah and Nate have the most amazing families and examples of what love is. I am so thankful to have been a part of this day!
